A Personal Introduction

Welcome to my “Random Musings on Theology, Life and Art” Blog.

My name is Bill Erlenbach. I have substaintialy competed a Master of Divinity at Briercrest Seminary and have been granted ‘Candidate’ status. As of the beginning of August 2008 I have the privilege of pastoring Clareview Community Church (Evangelical Free Church) in Edmonton, Alberta.

I am also a painter and photographer. I used to earn money writing software and selling hardware for industrial applications. I’m married with three children and just a few years away from having an empty nest.

The purpose of this blog is to promote thoughtful Christian theological reflection, particularly as it relates to life and art.  As much as I love the academic side of theology (yes, there will be some of that here too), as Karl Barth said, theology must be in the service of the Church. Simply stated, theology needs running shoes.

I do not expect everyone, if any one, to agree with what I write. I trust no one will be offended since that certainly is not my intent. If it causes both you and me to pause and think a little deeper about theology, life and art, it has achieved its purpose.

As a brief disclaimer, the opinions and reflections written about here are my own and not necessarily those of the church I pastor or the Canadian EFC conference. That said I trust that what I write is consistent with the letter and intent of the EFC statement of faith. However, please do not presume my personal musings to be sponsored by or affirmed by those I seek diligently to serve.
